Hines: from the top of Torre Velasca, a concert to celebrate Milan

It is through music that Hines, eading global real estate player, has chosen to welcome the summer and the renovation works on one of the most iconic Milanese landmarks, Torre Velasca. The event carries a message of rebirth and renewal for the entire city as it resumes with greater enthusiasm and energy on the growth path that has led to its establishment as an economic and cultural driving force in Italy and abroad.

The 21st of June, in occasion of the summer solstice and the Festa della Musica, the Teatro alla Scala academy will perform from the balcony of the top floor of the Torre Velasca. The orchestra will be conducted by Speranza Scappucci, one of the most talented conductors on the international stage, with the participation of the Voci Bianche choir of the Teatro alla Scala and the violinist Giovanni Andrea Zanon.

The notes of Mozart, Vivaldi and Massenet will not be confined to the top floor but will also be distributed to the ears of everyone by Hines’ express request to create a moment of sharing and celebration for a city that is inclusive and accessible, taking advantage of technology and digital communication methods that we have experimented with during this year of social distancing. The concert will in fact be streamed live on social media through the @torrevelascaofficial Facebook and Instagram pages and will also be livestreamed on Corriere della Sera’s Corriere TV, on Classica HD, on Sky channel 136 and on the website www.torrevelasca.it.

As an investor and developer of Torre Velasca, Hines has decided to make the symbol of the Milanese skyline the protagonist of the event: the tower’s construction in the afterwar period had represented a powerful recovery. Before the Tower is covered in scaffolding that will last until 2023, the Voci Bianche choir from the Teatro della Scala will perform a homage to the city of Milan: Nabucco – Va pensiero sull’ali dorate by Verdi.

The restoration and urban renewal efforts at Torre Velasca that Hines will carry out in the next two years are proof of the company’s commitment to growing and sustainably developing the city of Milan. Following the Torre Velasca Ouverture, in fact, there will be the flower festival “Infiorata” event in Via della Spiga, once again organised by Hines, during which some of the city’s most prominent figures will contribute to planting the seeds of new ideas and projects in one of the cardinal streets of the Milanese “quadrilatero”.

Milan comes back to life. After a long period of webinars and exclusively digital communication, events are back, moments of meeting and physical sharing, fundamental in rekindling relationships, especially the relationship between a city that has been empty for so long and its people.
